- Our Cottages
Open the blue front door of Churchill Cottage and step into a home that tells a story. Just yards from Auckland Palace, this elegant retreat is named for Sarah Churchill – daughter of Sir Winston and a celebrated artist – whose original prints now grace its walls.
Inside, warmth and character abound. Indian yellow walls and plush armchairs create a homely yet refined living space. Across the hall, a cornflower blue kitchen and Welsh dresser frame a generous farmhouse table, perfect for long breakfasts and evening suppers.
Upstairs, two beautifully styled bedrooms offer original fireplaces, sweeping views and luxurious en-suites. Outside, a quiet patio invites lazy coffees or sundowners in the golden hour.
With a setting steeped in heritage and interiors rich in charm, Churchill Cottage is a place to gather, unwind and be inspired – a unique stay in the heart of historic Bishop Auckland.
Your stay also includes a complimentary Bishop’s Key annual pass (RRP £30 per guest), unlocking seasonal access to 5 amazing attractions in Bishop Auckland. Private off-street parking is provided and for a modest additional charge, up to two dogs are most welcome.
Please note, this property is not currently wheelchair accessible.
